OUR MISSION

To provide non-clinical, culturally grounded consultation and heart-centered support to individuals, families, and communities by centering Indigenous and ancestral ways of knowing.

Through intergenerational dialogue, embodied care practices, and land-based guidance, we cultivate spaces for relational wellness, healing, and rootedness.

WHERE I AM FROM  Miriam Valdovinos (poem excerpt)

I am from Saturday mornings, waking up to the smell of purple Fabuloso, the long-lasting fragrance multi-purpose cleaner, as the rancheras and the corridos play loudly from our kitchen radio. Melancholic lyrics from the flamboyant Mexican icon and world-renowned composer, Juanga booming “no tengo dinero, ni nada que dar, lo unico que tengo es amor para amar”- all signs that mom is cleaning our humble apartment. “Somos humildes pero no cochinos” -a reminder that poverty doesn’t mean living in a dirty home, and music makes any moment a little bit sweeter.

Meet DrA. Miriam

Dra. Miriam G. Valdovinos is a relational wellness practitioner and social welfare scholar whose work centers culturally grounded care for Latinx individuals, families, and communities. Her background in social work and community-based research informs a multi-layered approach to healing that honors personal experience, family systems, and collective context.

As a Xicana Indigenous practitioner, Miriam centers culture, ancestral knowledge, and narrative-based ways of knowing—recognizing healing as both personal and communal. Her work is shaped by ongoing engagement with communities across the U.S. and Mexico, and by a deep commitment to addressing harm with care, dignity, and relational responsibility.

This practice emerges from lived experience, scholarship, and a belief that wellness is cultivated through connection, reflection, and belonging.

The Canela Roots Symbol

The symbol is a Monarca butterfly formed through canela (cinnamon) and the jacaranda flower - honoring resilience, migration, and ancestral connection.

Rooted in Michoacán, the Monarca reflects journeys across generations, while canela and jacaranda represent cycles of healing, nourishment, and renewal. Together, they embody healing as relational, continuous, and deeply rooted in place and lineage.

Grounded in social science research and lived experience.
